SNICKERDOODLE COOKIES 
1 c. shortening (any combination or all butter, butter or Crisco)
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 cap of vanilla
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. sugar

Let shortening stand in large mixing bowl until soft; add the 1 1/2 cups sugar, the eggs and vanilla and mix thoroughly. Sift the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt together and stir into the shortening mixture. Chill in refrigerator for 1 hour.

Shape into balls the size of small walnuts. Mix together the 2 teaspoons each of cinnamon and sugar and roll the balls in the mixture. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet two inches apart. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
