1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tbsp. nutmeg
6 to 8 c. flour

Cream sugar and butter and add eggs, buttermilk and vanilla. Mix well. Combine dry ingredients with 4 cups of flour and SIFT into batter and mix.

Add more flour until you have a soft dough. Chill dough before rolling. Cut out cookies. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
