FRENCH ONION SOUP | |
2 pkg. onion soup mix 1 c. red or white wine 1/2 tsp. sage or thyme 1 bay leaf 1 onion Swiss cheese Croutons Oil or butter Reconstruct the soup as directed on the package. Then add 1 cup of red or white wine, a bay leaf, 1/2 teaspoon of sage or thyme (for 7-8 cups of soup) and the cut up onion. Simmer the soup for 20 minutes. Pour the hot soup into serving casserole or baking dishes. Place the croutons and sliced cheese into the soup. Cover the croutons completely with the cheese. Sprinkle a tablespoon of oil or butter over the cheese and set the soup in the middle level of a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until soup is bubbling slowly and cheese is melted. |
