PECAN SURPRISE BARS 
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
(reserving 2/3 c. for filling)
1 egg
1/2 c. butter, melted

FILLING:

2/3 c. reserved cake mix
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. dark corn syrup

Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan. Reserve 2/3 cup dry cake mix for filling; set aside. Combine remaining in large bowl with butter and egg; mix until crumbly. Press into a pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes until lightly browned. Prepare filling. Pour over partially baked crust. Sprinkle with pecans. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool.
