3 slices bread 1 med. onion Salt and pepper Onions Flour 1 can tomato sauce 3/4 c. milk 1 lb. hamburger 1 egg Green peppers 1 can tomatoes Water Break the slices of bread into small pieces. Heat the milk and pour over bread and let soak. Grate medium onion into meat. Add salt and pepper. Add bread with all milk squeezed out; mix well. Add the egg, beaten. Make into balls (or patties). Roll in flour and brown in Dutch oven. Add sliced onions and green peppers (if desired) and brown. After meat, onions, and peppers are browned, add tomatoes and sauce. Season with additional salt and add sugar to tomatoes. Cook, covered about 1 1/2 hours and stir and add water, as necessary. |
