JUBILEE COOKIES 
1/2 c. soft shortening
1/2 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c. chopped pecans, walnuts, raisins, dates, chocolate bits or coconut
1 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 3/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Mix shortening, sugar and eggs. Stir in milk and vanilla. Sift together flour, soda and salt. Stir into mixture. Add the nuts (or whatever). Chill in refrigerator for 1 hour. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for approximately 10 minutes. Top with icing.

ICING:

Heat 2 tablespoons butter until brown. Add 2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar. Add 1/4 cup evaporated milk.
