MRS. PENNINGTON'S ICE BOX
COOKIES
 
2 c. sifted flour
1 egg
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 1/2 stick butter, soft
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. nuts, chopped

Mix the butter and sugars together well. Then add the egg and dry ingredients which have been sifted together. Add nuts which have been chopped in small pieces. Chill for an hour and then roll into 2 rolls. You can slice as needed and bake on a cookie sheet at 325 degrees for 10 minutes.
