1 c. cornmeal
1 c. flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. shortening
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg

Mix dry ingredients; add shortening. Add milk to egg; beat well. Add to other ingredients. Bake 375 degrees 20-25 minutes.
