MEATBALL SOUP 
1 lb. ground beef
1/3 c. fine dry bread crumbs
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 c. finely chopped onion
1/2 tsp. salt
1 can golden mushroom soup
1 can beef broth
1 can tomatoes, cut up
1/2 tsp. basil leaves, crushed
1/8 tsp. thyme leaves, crushed
1 sm. bay leaf
1 can large cut mixed vegetables

Mix together beef, bread crumbs, egg, onion, salt and pepper; shape into meatballs. In large saucepan brown meatballs in 2 tbsp. shortening; pour off fat. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to boil; reduce heat, cover and simmer 20 minutes.
