RED VELVET CAKE 
2 eggs
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 oz. red food coloring
2 tbsp. cocoa
2 1/4 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. vinegar

Cream together eggs, Crisco and sugar. Add food coloring and cocoa. Add flour and salt. Add to wet mixture dry ingredients already with buttermilk. Add vanilla and stir well. Add baking soda. Pour in vinegar, butter and sugar. 350 degrees for 30 minutes. (Cool and frost.)

RED VELVET FROSTING:

5 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar

Put flour and milk in jar and shake well. Pour into saucepan (medium heat). Cook until paste. Cool. In bowl cream sugar, butter, and vanilla. Add paste. Beat for 7 minutes.
