DELUXE SCALLOPED CABBAGE 
6 c. cabbage, chopped
1/4 c. butter, melted
2 tbsp. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
Pepper to taste
3/4 c. milk
3/4 c. American cheese (grated)
1 1/3 c. soft bread crumbs

Parboil cabbage in 1 quart boiling water for 5 minutes; drain. Place cabbage in a 9 inch square pan. Blend 3 tablespoons of butter with the flour in a small saucepan. Stir in salt, pepper and milk. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring constantly; remove from heat. Stir in cheese until melted.
