10 slices bread, fresh or stale or leftover hamburger-hotdog buns 1 sm. to med. onion, chopped Flour, if necessary 1 lg. or extra large egg Leftover mashed potatoes (optional) Salt & pepper to taste Dip each slice of bread into a shallow dish of warm water. Ring out excess water immediately. Throw bread into a bowl. Add all other ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Add a handful of flour to mixture if too sticky to form into balls. Flour hands and roll bread into balls. Drop into boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes or until they float. May also boil balls in bouillon. Serve with pot roast and gravy instead of mashed potatoes. |
