OATMEAL TOLL HOUSE COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda (in 2 tsp. hot water)
1 c. nuts
2 (7 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
2 c. oatmeal, regular or instant
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together flour and salt. Mix together all ingredients except nuts, oatmeal, and chocolate chips. Slowly add and mix oatmeal, then add chips and nuts. Drop by half spoons on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 9-12 minutes. Makes 100 cookies.
