BENNE SEED COOKIES | |
1/2 lb. butter (1/2 butter and 1/2 butter) 1 lg. cream cheese 2 c. flour 1/2 c. benne seeds (toasted) (Buy at a seed store or use Sesame seeds) Dash of red pepper Onion salt Cream butter and cheese. Add other ingredients and blend. After ingredients are well mixed, roll into a large ball. Divide the ball in half. Wrap each half in wax paper and put in the refrigerator to chill. Roll out one half of a ball on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch in thickness. Using the inside of a biscuit cutter, cut out small round pieces. Place on an ungreased pan. Cook in a 350 degree oven until light brown (about 12 to 15 minutes). They look like miniature biscuits. These "cookies" make an excellent appetizer with tomato juice. This recipe will make 8 dozen but the bite-size is so delicious, they won't last long. Serves 25 to 30. |
