"NEVER FAIL" CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. cocoa
1 stick butter
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. "boiling" water

Beat together 2 cups sugar and 2 eggs.

Melt together 1/2 cup cocoa and 1 stick butter. Add cocoa mixture to sugar mixture; mix well.

Add 1/2 cup buttermilk; mix well.

Add 2 cups unsifted flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Mix well. Slowly add 1 cup boiling water; mix well.

Bake in greased 13x9 pan at 325 degrees for 30-35 minutes. (Frosting to follow.)

FUDGE FROSTING:

1 stick butter
4 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. milk
1 box confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash salt

Put milk, butter and cocoa in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add confectioners' sugar, vanilla and salt. Beat until well mixed. Will thicken more as it cools.

Best to use on a loaf pan cake.
