NEVER FAIL CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 c. white sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk combined with
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. cooking oil
1 c. water
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift dry ingredients. Add milk mixture and other ingredients. Blend with big spoon. Bake in greased 9 x 13 inch pan at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

FROSTING:

1 c. white sugar
1/4 c. milk
1/4 c. cocoa
Dash of salt
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix all ingredients except vanilla. Boil hard one minute, stirring to prevent burning. Add vanilla and beat. Pour on warm cake.
