OATMEAL CARMELITAS (decadent) 
50 (14 oz.) pkg. light candy caramels (Kraft)
1/2 c. evaporated milk
2 c. flour
2 c. quick oats
1 1/2 c. brown sugar (firmly packed)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter, melted
1 c. (6 oz. pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Melt together caramels and milk and cool slightly. Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, soda, salt, and butter and press half of the crumbs into bottom of greased 13 x 9 inch dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

Remove from oven. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Spread carefully with caramel mixture. (It's easier to reverse the above process.) Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture and pat down. Bake 15 to 20 minutes longer until golden brown. Cut into bars before completely cool. (May add 1 cup chopped pecans with chocolate chips, if desired.)
