GRANDMA'S BOILED RAISIN COOKIES 
Boil together 5 minutes:

2 c. raisins
1 c. water

Cool and add:

1 tsp. baking soda

Cream together:

1 c. shortening
2 c. white sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped walnuts

Add dry ingredients alternately with raisins and water to creamed mixture. Drop by teaspoonfuls. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees until light golden brown.
