SNOW SOUP 
1 lb. ground beef or turkey
1/2 lb. carrots
2 ribs celery
1 lg. onion
2 (1 lb.) cans tomatoes
1 c. pearl barley
2 tsp. or cubes beef bouillon
Ground pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, 3 sprigs
6 c. water

Brown meat in 5-quart pot. Skim off fat. In processor coarsely chop carrots, celery, onion, parsley. Add tomatoes (if not chopped already). Add to meat, then add remaining ingredients. Stir well.

Simmer in covered pot for 1 hour stirring occasionally. Taste barely and serve when its fully cooked. This dish freezes well.
