2 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening
3 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt

FILLING:

2 pkg. pitted dates, chopped in sm. pieces
1/2 c. nuts
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar

Mix ingredients well. Roll mixture in large round rolls. Mix filling for cookies and spread over the rolled dough mixture. Make rolls the size you wish. wrap in wax paper and store in refrigerator overnight. Slice and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
