1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
48 Hershey kisses or Reese's miniatures

Combine all ingredients except the candy. Shape into balls using rounded teaspoonfuls. Roll in sugar; place on ungreased sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Top each immediately with Hershey kisses candy; press down firmly so cookie cracks around edge.

For Reese's miniatures, follow the above except bake in miniature cupcake papers for 15 minutes. Remove from oven, press Reese's miniatures into center of each cookie, cool, enjoy.
