HOT TAMALE PIE 
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. bell pepper, chopped
2 tsp. chili powder
2 tsp. garlic powder
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 tsp. salt
1 c. yellow cornmeal
3 c. boiling water
Grated Cheddar (optional)

Stir cornmeal into 3 cups of boiling salted water. Cook until thick, stirring constantly. Cover and cook 25 minutes.

Cook garlic, onion, bell pepper in skillet over low heat. Stir in beef and brown. Then add other seasonings and tomatoes. Line the bottom and sides of greased casserole with 2/3 of corn mush, top, with beef mixture and cheese and remaining mush. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
