OLD TIMEY TEA CAKES | |
7 c. flour 5 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 2 c. sugar 1 lb. butter or shortening 4 eggs, beaten 1 c. milk 3 tbsp. vanilla Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut butter or shortening into flour as you would for pastry until well blended. Stir in sugar. Add eggs and milk and stir thoroughly. If dough is too dry to roll out, add a little more milk. Roll dough on lightly floured board as thin as you like and cut in desired shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with sugar or decorative sugar and bake in 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes a large batch of cookies. Be good in lunches and gift boxes. |
