OLD-TIME RECIPE FOR TEA CAKES 
2 c. sugar (1/3 more makes sweeter, if desired)
1 c. shortening
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla or almond extract

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, creaming well. Add flavoring.

Combine dry ingredients in sifter:

4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder

Add to shortening mixture. Should be a stiff cookie dough.

Cut out on floured board and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees until light tan. Do not overcook.
