FRUIT CAKE 
1 lb. raisins
2 c. sugar
4 tbsp. lard
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. cloves
3 c. hot water
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 pkg. candied fruit
1 c. nuts

Cook first 7 ingredients for 15 minutes; cool. Add remaining ingredients. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 300 degrees.

I have some mini loaf pans I like to use to bake my fruit cake in. I wrap them in Christmas wrapping and give to friends or family members or take to a neighbor. Sometimes I cut both ends out of a tin can and use it. Makes nice gifts for some who lives along. I you use smaller containers adjust baking time to coordinate with size of container.
