OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP BARS 
1 1/2 c. (scant) brown sugar
1 c. shortening (Crisco or butter)
3 tbsp. molasses
2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
3 c. oatmeal (uncooked)
1 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. chopped nuts
6 oz. (3/4 c.) chocolate chips

In large bowl beat brown sugar and shortening. Add molasses, vanilla and eggs. Beat well. Stir in oats, flour, baking soda, salt. Blend. Stir in nuts, chocolate chips. Spread in greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Serve warm or cool.

For low altitude. Decrease eggs to 2; increase baking soda to 1 teaspoon.
