NAVY CHICKEN | |
1 frying chicken of breast and legs 2 tbsp. butter 1 c. ketchup 1/2 c. water 1 med. size onion 2 tbsp. oil 1/2 c. Sherry 1 tbsp. lemon juice 2 tbsp. brown sugar 2 tbsp. butter 1 tbsp. Worcestershire Dust chicken with flour, salt and pepper. Saute until lightly browned in butter and oil. Set in casserole dish. Combine all other ingredients in saucepan. Heat to simmering, pour over chicken. Cover and bake in moderately slow oven at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Refrigerate unused portions. For best results, prepare one night before to absorb flavor, refrigerate. |
