PORTUGUESE BAKED BEANS | |
1 bag navy beans 1 lg. onion 1 stick chourico Paprika Garlic powder Crushed pepper 1/2 c. ketchup Oil Soak beans in water overnight. In a pan, add diced onion, chourico chunks, 1 tablespoon paprika, 1 tablespoon garlic powder, 1 tablespoon crushed pepper, little bit of ketchup to taste, and just enough oil to saute all of the above ingredients. Add beans and just water to cover them. Let cook until beans are soft adding water as needed. When beans are completely cooked, pour them into a baking pan, pour 2 tablespoons oil over the beans and bake at 300 degrees for about 30 minutes, then lower the temperature to 250 degrees for about another 30 minutes, keeping an eye on them so they don't stick or burn. When the beans are dry and completely cooked it's done. Note: Paprika, garlic powder, crushed pepper can be a little more or a little less, depending on your taste. |
