“AUNT FAYE'S CHICKEN & DUMPLINGS” IS IN:

AUNT FAYE'S CHICKEN & DUMPLINGS
3 to 4 boneless chicken breasts

Boil chicken breast until done (about 20 minutes). While chicken is boiling, prepare dumplings.

Dumplings:

2 cans refrigerator biscuits (butter style)
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 tbsp. butter
3 bouillon cubes
1 tsp. garlic salt (optional)

Roll out biscuits on a work surface sprinkled with flour. Make them as flat at you can and check that they have a light coating of flour. Set them aside.

When chicken is done, remove from pan and set aside to cool, saving the water in the pot that the chicken was cooked in. Skim any foam off the surface; you want to make sure you have a good bit of water in the pot, about 3/4 full. If water has boiled off, then just add more.

Bring to a boil and add soup, butter, bouillon cubes and garlic salt (if desired). Stir well

Over medium high heat, begin adding biscuit "dumplings". Tear them into quarter size pieces and drop into the boiling water.

Hint: The less you stir the better they are, so after you add all of them, reduce the heat to medium setting, stirring only occasionally. Add chicken back into pot, tearing into small pieces. Cook until the dumplings are soft; this usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. I promise these are the best dumplings you will ever eat!. Enjoy!

My grandma always made dumpling this way and it was so quick and so good. She just cut the biscuits into 4 pieces and threw them in the pot with the chicken!

I've been cooking this for years .... learned it from my mom. I use 3 cans of biscuits, because my family loves the dumplings more than the chicken. To the poster who said her dumplings disappeared, I would say you stirred too much. It's really a simple recipe .... just get all the ingredients in there and leave it alone. And tastes even better as leftovers!

It's ironic my mothers name is Faye and she showed me this recipe. Probably not related but yes this is VERY close to how I make mine too. The biscuits I use are called Big Texas here on the east coast. They have pieces of butter all through them and makes the flavor fantastic!

You may also want to add a few veggies I have found it really enhances this dish. You can add about 1 cup of diced yellow onions,1 tbsp. of minced garlic, 1 cup of carrots cooked or uncooked. Depends on how long ya wanna wait and how hungry you are! :) Also add celery probably about a half cup.

I love this recipe! It's always my "go to" for chicken and dumplings. You can keep the recipe simple as it is or add some veges/herbs to it. My fave is frozen peas and carrots. Dumplings are outstanding!!

This recipe does sound good and easy, but would it be ok if I season the chicken w/ seasonings while its boiling like garlic, onion, etc? Thanx

This was awesome. Thank You Debbie Hill, and your Aunt Faye. The only thing I will change next time, is to not use the butter biscuits. My family thought the butter flavor was too strong. But I will definitely be making this many times over. Thank You.
