SAUSAGE AND SWEET POTATOES 
2 lbs. sweet potatoes
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. water
2 tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 lb. sausage shaped in patties

Parboil sweet potatoes for 15 minutes. Peel; cut into strips as for French fried potatoes. Place in greased 9"x13" baking dish. Boil sugars, water and shortening and salt in saucepan for 3 minutes, making syrup; pour syrup over sweet potatoes.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Place sausage on top. Bake for 30 minutes longer, or until sausage is done. Yield: 8 to 10 servings.
