APPLE DESSERT CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
4 c. chopped unpeeled apples
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt

TOPPING:

1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Combine sugar and butter; add eggs, mixing well. Add apples and nuts. Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture. Pour into a 9 x 13 inch pan. Combine topping ingredients and crumble over cake. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees, reduce temperature to 325 degrees and continue to bake for 35 minutes more. Serve plain, with whipped cream or ice cream.
