AMBROSIA CAKE 
1/4 c. butter
1 c. buttermilk (dissolve 2 tsp. baking soda in buttermilk)
3 eggs, well beaten
1 raw apple, chopped
2 tbsp. cocoa
3 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
2 c. sugar

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs. Add flour alternately with buttermilk. Add raw apple, spices, cocoa, and bake in layers at 275 degrees until done. Cool.

FILLING:

3 c. sugar
2 c. sweet milk
1/2 c. butter
Pinch of soda
1 tsp. baking powder

Mix and cook until mixture forms a soft ball in cold water. Add 1 cup each, coconut, raisins, crushed pineapple (drained) and pecans, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until stiff, then spread on cake.
