RIBBON COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. chopped candied red cherries
1/4 c. chopped candied green cherries
1/3 c. chocolate chips, melted over hot water
1/4 c. chopped pecans

Cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs and vanilla; beat. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; blend half into butter-sugar mixture; stir in remaining flour mixture until blended. Divide dough into three parts. Add red cherries to one, green cherries to second, and chocolate and pecans to third. Line bottom and sides of 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan with foil. Pat red cherry dough into bottom of pan; pat chocolate dough over this; pat green cherry dough over top. Press each layer down firmly. Cover, refrigerate several hours. Turn out of pan. Cut in half lengthwise. Slice each bar in 1/8 inch thick slices. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
