JAM CAKE 
1 c. blackberry jam
1 c. strawberry preserves
1/2 c. butter
2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
3 eggs, beaten
1 c. each raisins & nuts

Soak raisins in warm water for 30 minutes. Combine butter and eggs. Add dry ingredients, soda and milk. Bake at 300-325 degrees for about 1 hour. Good with or without following icing.

CARAMEL ICING:

1 c. dark brown sugar
1/4 lb. butter
2 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. cream

Combine brown sugar, butter and cream; cook until mixture comes to boil. Remove from heat. Add vanilla, confectioners' sugar and beat until it reaches spreading consistency. Ice cake immediately.
