PEPPERY CHEESE BRAIDS 
3 tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. coarse ground pepper
2 pkgs. yeast
4 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. milk
4 tbsp. butter
2 eggs
4 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese

Combine sugar, salt, pepper, yeast and 2 cups flour in 1 quart saucepan. Over low heat, heat milk and butter until warm (120-130 degrees). Mix at low speed. Gradually beat liquid into dry ingredients until blended. Increase to medium, beat 2 minutes occasionally scraping sides of bowl. Beat in 1 egg and 1/2 cup flour to make a soft dough. Knead.

Shape into ball. Put in greased bowl, cover; let rise 30 minutes. Push down dough and let rest 15 minutes. Grease baking dish. Cut dough into 36 pieces and braid 3 rope pieces together tucking under ends. Brush with beaten egg. Let rise 30 minutes. Bake 12-15 minutes. 12 rolls.
