TEXAS SHEET CAKE | |
2 sticks butter 6 tbsp. cocoa 1 c. water 2 c. sugar 2 c. sifted flour 1/2 c. sour cream 2 eggs 1 tsp. baking soda Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease 12 x 12 inch pan (cookie sheet). Combine butter, cocoa, and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and add sugar and flour. Beat together by hand and add the sour cream with eggs beaten into it. Add soda and mix thoroughly. Bake 20 minutes. While cake is baking, mix frosting and frost cake as soon as you take it out of the oven. Sprinkle 1/2 cup chopped nuts on top. FROSTING: 1 stick butter 4 tbsp. cocoa 6 tbsp. evaporated milk 1 lb. powdered sugar Melt butter in large saucepan under very low flame. Add cocoa and milk; mix. Stir in powdered sugar; mix well. Frost cake while still hot. |
