1 1/2 lb. sweet Italian sausage 1/2 c. sliced white onions 1/4 c. butter 14-16 slices white bread, edges trimmed 1/2 lb. box fresh mushrooms, sliced 1/2-3/4 lb. mild Cheddar cheese, grated Previously mix: 2 1/2 c. milk 1 tsp. dry mustard 1 tsp. Dijon mustard 1 tsp. ground thyme Salt & pepper to taste Now - Saute mushrooms and onions in butter. Remove them from pan when done. Take sausage out of casing and crumble up in pan; brown and stir. Grease baking dish lightly. Layer all bread on bottom (making sure corners are filled). Layer 1/2 sausage; 1/2 cheese; 1/2 sauteed mushrooms and onions; repeat layers ending with cheese. Take remaining ingredients previously mixed (wire whipped) and pour over starting with edges first. Bake 35-45 minutes or until brown and bubbly at 350 degrees. That's all folks! |
