SHREDDED WHEAT BREAD | |
3 lg. Shredded Wheat biscuits 2 tbsp. shortening 1/4 c. molasses 3 c. boiling water 2 tsp. salt 1 yeast cake (or 1 tbsp. dry yeast) Approximately 5 1/2 c. flour Pour boiling water over Shredded Wheat biscuits; add salt, shortening and molasses; cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water and combine with lukewarm biscuit and water mixture. Stir in enough flour to make dough of kneading consistency. Knead on floured board. Place in bowl and cover; let rise until double in warm place. Form into 2 loaves; let rise again until double. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes. |
