1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix shortening, 1 1/2 cup sugar and eggs together. Blend flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Add to other ingredients. Shape into 1-inch balls and roll into mixture of 2 teaspoons sugar, cinnamon and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes. Cookies puff up and then flatten out. Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
