SCALLOPED APPLES 
4 medium tart apples peeled and sliced
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. butter
2 c. fresh bread crumbs (4 slices approx.)

Toss apples with sugar and spices. In skillet melt butter, add crumbs and toss lightly. In greased 8 inch square baking pan, layer half apples, half crumbs. Top with remaining apples and crumbs. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until tender. Serve warm as a side dish with pork and ham or as a dessert topped with ice cream.
