MAPLE NUT FUDGE 
1 c. maple syrup
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. cream
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. butternuts (or walnuts)
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Boil sugar, cream, and butter until soft ball stage is reached. Add nuts and vanilla. Beat until ready to pour into buttered tins.

Fabulously delicious! With the rudimentary instructions, probably best for experienced candy makers. I used an 8x8-inch dish, walnuts, and substituted maple flavoring for the vanilla.

If you're not experienced: 1) don't make candy on a humid day; 2) heat ingredients on low until sugar melts; 3) use a candy thermometer unless you're familiar with the soft ball ice-water test; 4) beat until it gets creamy and starts to lose its gloss.

Anyway, this is my go-to recipe for maple nut fudge. Just awesome!
