OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 egg
1/4 c. water
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
2 c. quick oats
1 c. raisins or dates
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. cinnamon

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Beat egg, water, shortening, butter, sugar, and cinnamon until blended. Add half of dry cake mix and beat until smooth. Stir in remaining cake mix, oats, raisins, and nuts. Drop dough by teaspoons, about 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.

FOR OATMEAL BARS: Spread dough in ungreased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inch jelly roll pan. Bake 20-25 minutes or until light brown. If desired, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar. Cool. Cut into bars.
