2 heads lettuce, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 onion, chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 can LeSueur peas, drained
3 tbsp. bacon bits
1 pt. Hellmann's salad dressing
1 c. Cheddar cheese, shredded

Layer first 5 ingredients. Spread salad dressing on top. Sprinkle with sugar. Top with cheese and bacon bits. Cover tightly. Chill overnight. Toss before serving.
