1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1/2 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
5-6 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter, sugar, eggs, sour cream and vanilla. Combine rest of ingredients and spoon onto lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees until dough springs back when lightly touched. Cookies will be golden brown all over. chill at least 1/2 hour if dough is to be rolled and used with cookie cutters.
