1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
4 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sour cream

Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with sour cream. Add vanilla. Chill overnight. Roll 1/4 inch thick. Cut with 3 inch cookie cutter. Place on ungreased sheet. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes.
