OLD-FASHIONED TEA CAKES 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. milk (optional)

Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Add vanilla and milk if needed. Chill dough 1 hour. Roll dough out to 1/8 inch thickness on floured surface. Cut as desired. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 13 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes 3 to 4 dozen cookies.
