APPLE DUMPLINGS
DOUGH:

2 c. plain flour
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. cold water

Mix flour and salt. Cut Crisco into flour until it resembles corn meal. Add the cold water and mix until dough forms into large ball.

DUMPLINGS:

4 or 5 apples, finely chopped
2 tbsp. sugar
Dash of apple pie spice
Butter
Water

Pinch off a small piece of dough and roll into a small circle (about 4 inches in diameter). Place a pat of butter in center of dough; top butter with 2 tablespoons of sugar and a dash of apple pie spice. Then place about 1/4 cup chopped apples on it.

Fold dough over to form a little dumpling and place folded side down in a 9x11 Pyrex dish. Make enough dumplings to fill pan (6 or 8). Fill pan with water until dumplings are almost covered. Top each dumpling with a pat of butter and sprinkle lightly with sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes or until lightly browned.
