APPLE DUMPLING | |
6 dumplings Pastry for two 9" crusts 6 med. tart juicy apples 1 c. sugar 2 c. water 3 tbsp. butter 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1/3 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. butter Heat oven to 425 degrees (hot). Roll pastry out a little less than 1/8 inch thick and cut in 7 inch squares. Pare and core (use an apple corer) an apple for each dumpling. Boil next 4 ingredients together for 3 minutes. Place apple on each pastry square. Fill cavities of apples with mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Dot each with butter. Wrap pastry around apple. Place in baking dish. Pour hot syrup around dumplings. Bake 40-45 minutes or until crust is nicely brown and apples are done. Test with fork. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream. |
