ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
Sift together:

3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Combine:

1 lb. pkg. orange slice candy (cut up)
1 (8 oz.) pkg. pitted dates (chopped)
2 c. walnuts, chopped
1 can flaked coconut

Add 1/2 cup of the flour mixture and work with a spoon until light (set aside).

Cream together in large mixing bowl:

1 c. butter
2 c. sugar

Then add 4 eggs one at a time.

Combine:

1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda

Alternately, add flour mixture and buttermilk mixture to butter and sugar mixture, mixing well. Add candy and nut mixture, mix well. Pour into a large tube pan that has been greased and lined with foil and greased again. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 45 minutes.

ICING:

1 c. orange juice
2 c. sifted confectioners sugar

Mix well and pour over hot cake still in the pan. Refrigerate overnight before removing from the pan.

I used a Teflon coated pan and I did greased it real well but I did not use the foil in it.
