1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
3 1/2 c. flour
1 lb. chopped dates
1 lb. orange candy slices, cut up
2 c. chopped nuts
1 can flaked coconut

Cream together butter and sugar, add eggs, one at a time. Beat well. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add candy, dates, nuts, coconut and flour. Add buttermilk mixture to butter mixture. Mix well. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour until done.

GLAZE:

1 c. orange juice
2 c. powdered sugar

Pour over cake while hot.
